2010 Season - Week 22
The Pack Are Back
And so the Lombardi Trophy returns home as Green Bay outlasts Pittsburgh 31-25 when the Packers stopped the Steelers on fourth down with 49 seconds left. Down 21-3 with 2 minutes to go in the first half the Steelers made a great attempt at the biggest comeback in Superbowl history and closed the gap to just 3 points in the middle of the fourth quarter. Aaron Rodgers was the MVP after a 24 of 39 304 yard 3TD 0 interception performance.
BUMSBowl XV
When Aaron Rodgers pass to Jordy Nelson fell to the floor in the end zone with just 2 minutes left instead of Chief taking a one point lead, the ensuing Crosby Field Goal put Johnnie up by five and when the Packers stopped the final Steeler drive, Johnnie won the BUMSBowl, 31-25. He is undefeated in the Finale (2-0) while Chief falls to a 3-2 record in the Big Game. Johnnie is currently enjoying the greatest run in our 16 year history. Mark won back-to-back Championships in 2000 and 2001, Marcus did the double in 2001 and Wayne repeated Papas Fritas victories in 2003 and 2004 but Johnnie has now done the double in two consecutive years. A brief word for the Chief who in the last 3 years has won the BUMSBowl (after the 2008 season) and been runner-up on 4 other occasions in the last 6 tournaments (Prem runner-up in 2008, ‘09 & ’10 and 2010 BUMSBowl runner up).
All-BUMS 2010
A changing of the guard has happened with only 4 of the 16 players honoured having appeared in previous All-BUMS teams. No Brady, Manning, LT, Fitzgerald, Moss or Owens.appeared with Sebastian Janikowski making his 5th appearance (3 as a starter) and Adrian Peterson his 4th (first as a backup). Calvin Johnson and Greg Jennings both start at wideout having been backups two years ago. RB Arain Foster was the BUMS MVP scoring 0.1667 of a point more than Superbowl MVP Aaron Rodgers. Both of course helped Johnnie to his Paps Frtas title this year. Three quarters of the BUMS voted for their favourite players making 45 different choices (votes attached).
Superfood & Supergames
A huge thanks to Andy H for feeding the BUMS with a balanced diet of Green Bay Cheese (head) Burgers with Heinz Ketchup and Hot Dogs . His hospitality was rewarded as for a second year he had the most successful evening on the Supergames front making a £22.50 profit. AP and Chief made the heftiest losses, both finishing the evening £6 lighter. So that’s it for the season but I have two more newsletters to send out over the next fortnight. They will include trading day analysis, the weekly scoring chart and the updated All-time leading points scorer. Any updates on the labour dispute and possible lockout will also be emailed.
